It had pretty much everything I love all wrapped up into one book, and I think it can appeal to many audiences of the teen/early adult age range. I highly recommend this book for fans of light YA Contemporary. I also love the cover, but that’s not really a huge factor in how much I liked the story - I just feel like it should be noted! Lord’s writing was light and fun, and I honestly couldn’t put it down after about halfway through. Obviously, teenagers don’t normally run Twitter accounts for huge fast food chains, but involving a teenager makes sense when the content is so relevant to the current internet culture. When you see something weird happen on the internet lately, it usually traces back to a big business starting a PR campaign (*cough* Planters’ recent campaign *cough*), so this was a fun commentary on how those types of campaigns start and the people behind them. The fun part about this book was that the hate wasn’t actually between the two main characters, but rather the businesses they represent on Twitter.įor a contemporary, this really hit the nail on the head in terms of current social commentary. I would say this book had the perfect balance of hate-to-love for me because I’m not always a huge fan of that trope. Little do they know, while they’re publicly duking it out with snarky memes and retweet battles, they’re also falling for each other in real life ― on an anonymous chat app Jack built.Īs their relationship deepens and their online shenanigans escalate ― people on the internet are shipping them? ― their battle gets more and more personal, until even these two rivals can’t ignore they were destined for the most unexpected, awkward, all-the-feels romance that neither of them expected. His relationship with the business that holds his future might be love/hate, but when Big League Burger steals his grandma’s iconic grilled cheese recipe, he’ll do whatever it takes to take them down, one tweet at a time.Īll’s fair in love and cheese ― that is, until Pepper and Jack’s spat turns into a viral Twitter war. When he isn’t trying to duck out of his obscenely popular twin’s shadow, he’s busy working in his family’s deli. Her family may be falling apart, but their massive fast-food chain is booming ― mainly thanks to Pepper, who is barely managing to juggle real life while secretly running Big League Burger’s massive Twitter account.Įnter Jack, class clown and constant thorn in Pepper’s side. Meet Pepper, swim team captain, chronic overachiever, and all-around perfectionist. So, here’s a quick spoiler-free review from me, a huge fan of cheese under the right circumstances. I will say, it’s an incredibly cheesy book - pun intended.

To start off, I have to give a huge thanks to Wednesday Books for inviting me to be a part of Tweet Cute’s blog tour! I instantly thought the plot of this book sounded right up my alley, and that feeling was correct.
